Amazing Grace to fete 100th anniversary

WALLA WALLA — Amazing Grace Nazarene Church, 717 E. Alder St., celebrates its 100th anniversary at 10:15 a.m. today.

The theme is "Celebrating Generations." Dr. Randy Craker, district superintendent, will speak; a reunion choir will sing; a DVD highlighting all 100 years will be shown; and former pastors and staff will be present.

First Assembly of God hosts special guest

WALLA WALLA — First Assembly of God, 1919 Fern Ave. hosts special guest, Greg Smith, at the 10:30 a.m. service today.

Smith grew up in Walla Walla and earned a bachelor of arts in economics from Whitman College.

He also earned masters degrees in Christian studies and divinity.

He worked as the Chi Alpha campus pastor at Western Washington University for eight years, then moved to The Evergreen State College in Olympia as the Chi Alpha pastor there. For more information, call 525-2743.

Missionary to speak at WW Bible Center

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Bible Center, 140 W. Maple St., hosts a special presentation from Louise Short at 11 a.m. today.

Short is a missionary who has served in Sudan through Hope for the Future Foundation International. The service is open to everyone.

Baha’is plan to celebrate Ba’b’s birthday

WALLA WALLA — The Baha’is of Walla Walla will celebrate the birthday of the Ba’b from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Monday at Pioneer Park’s Garden Center.

There will be an international potluck dinner.

The Ba’b was born Oct. 20, 1819. Baha’is believe the Ba’b was invested with innate powers of spiritual comprehension.

For Baha’is, the Ba’b was the herald of the Baha’i era, which began in 1844.

Charity gifts collected at Grace United

WALLA WALLA — Grace United Methodist Church, 1520 Pleasant St., is collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, in memory of Scott Gabel.

Those who would like to donate items may drop items at the church before Nov. 8.

Suggested items, which can fit inside a shoe box, are school supplies, toys, hygiene items, hard candy, clothing and other small items.

Items must be new. No food, breakables, liquids or aerosol cans can be included.

A photo of Scott and his son will be placed in each box. A goal has been set to complete 100 boxes.

Unity Church to host a teen’s class Friday

WALLA WALLA — Unity Church of Peace will host Reel Spirit, a class for teens, at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 8 O’Connor Lane.

The group meets for pizza, a movie and a metaphysical discussion the fourth Friday of each month.

A festival of gifts will be Nov. 7

WALLA WALLA — Blue Mountain Community Church, 928 Sturm Ave., will hold the Festival of Gifts, 9 a.m-5 p.m. Nov. 7. Tables are available for vendors. The cost is $20.
