Walla Walla resident Madeleine Emily Coy, 86, of Wheatland Village, died Oct. 19, 2009 at her home.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Wheatland Village Chapel. Chaplain Walt Meske will officiate.

Mrs. Coy was born July 18, 1923, in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Jay and Melvina Stribley Douma. After graduating from high school at Oak Park Academy in Nevada, Iowa, she received her Bachelor of Arts from Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and her Masters from Arizona State University in Tempe. She married Hugh Coy on May 26, 1946 in Lincoln.
A Seventh-day Adventist, she taught with her husband at church secondary schools and colleges in Nebraska, Arizona, Iowa and California, as well as in the African nations of Zambia and Zimbabwe as a missionary. After moving to the Walla Walla area 25 years ago, she was a member of the City Seventh-day Adventist Church and held the office of deaconess. Over the years she served as treasurer at several churches with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, at the home; two daughters, Linda Wernick of Polebridge, Mont. and Joellen Lee, of Angwin, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
