Members of the Dayton School Board are Steve Martin, Marchand Hovrud, Tamara Fritze, Garry Snyder and David Bailey. With all present Wednesday the board:

PERSONNEL: Approved Roy Ramirez as a volunteer for junior high basketball. Also approved leave request by school nurse Kathy Snyder. Unanimous for both.

DONATION: Accepted donation of tricycle from Rich Stewart. Unanimous.

GOALS: Approved district goals. Goals include implementing budgets that provide a 5 percent reserve fund; maintaining and improving communication; provide opportunities for students to participate in a broad activity program; continue to emphasize academic excellence; support 712 instructional staff in development "Standards of Practice"; and develop plan for facilities improvement through August 2030. Unanimous.

STORAGE: Discussed options for storing materials currently stored the former preschool house that the district has sold. Possibilities include making space available in the gym basement, or constructing a small storage building.

M & O LEVY: Discussed putting M & O levy on the Feb. 9 election ballot. The board will be working on the process in the next two months.

DRESS CODE: Learned a change had been made in the dress code as the result of the work of a committee of administrators, students and parents. The change allows short skirts or dresses, as long as they are worn with leggings.

POLICIES: Held first reading on policies related to concussions.
