BOARDMAN — Helix started slow and finished solid in a five-game non-conference volleyball victory over Riverside here on Thursday.
The Grizziles won the match with scores of 23-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-16 and 15-12.
Helix is now 22-7 on the season and 6-0 in the Big Sky Conference.
Leaders for the Grizzlies included Chyanne Hack with eight kills, Megan Schroeder with seven kills and 24-for-24 at the service line, Britney Smith with seven kills and 24-for-24 serving, and Addie Terjeson with seven kills.
"Riverside has improved a lot," Helix coach Tammie Parker said. "In games one and three, we let them jump out ahead of us, and you cant do that and expect to win.
"In games two, four and five we were more focused and played with more energy," Parker said. "In game five our play was solid all around."
Helix competes in the 8 a.m. Dufer tournament on Saturday with an opening match against Sherman County at 8:45 a.m.
