Waitsburg man critically injured in Friday wreck

WAITSBURG -- A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after his four-wheeler slammed into a vehicle that was stopped to make a turn off of Preston Avenue.

According to witnesses interviewed by Walla Walla County Sheriff's deputies, Waitsburg resident Kevin Winger, 500 block of Wilson Hollow Road, was traveling at high speed around 9:50 p.m. on Friday when his Yamaha four-wheeler struck the right rear section of a Hyundai Elantra driven by Christine Judd, 200 block of West Second Street, Waitsburg.

Witnesses gathered around the site. One of them was a nurse, who immediately began assessing Winger. The nurse then started traction for a head injury and began CPR after Winger's breathing rate drop and he showed other critical signs.

Winger was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Mary Medical center. As of Saturday night he was in critical condition.
