Tigers down Pioneers in three volleyball games

LA GRANDE — Mac-Hi dropped a three-game Greater Oregon League volleyball match to La Grande here on Tuesday.

The Tigers won 25-16, 25-7 and 25-17.

The stat leaders for the Pioneers included Sierra Burchell with eight hits, one kill and one block; Jayme Freemantle had three hits and one kill; and Stefanie Baker had 47 assists.

"That was our last match-up with La Grande in La Grande," Mac-Hi coach Elizabeth Ellis said. "I feel like we played well in two out of the three games.

"During our second game, some of the girls were out of position and that really hurt us," Ellis said. "But all-in-all, we played okay. Our passing was really good and we set up plays.

"Our struggle (Tuesday) was that we couldn’t finish our plays," she said. "That’s what we will go into our practice (today) focusing on: getting a hit or a kill everytime!"

The Pioneers hit the road again for a 4:30 p.m. match at Baker on Thursday.
