W-P gets revenge on visiting Irish

WAITSBURG — Playing one of its best games of the year according to coach Jessie Buehler, Waitsburg-Prescott took down DeSales in three games here Tuesday night in a Southeast B District Southern Division volleyball match.

W-P prevailed 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 to avenge a three-game loss to the Irish earlier in the season in the DeSales gym.

Both teams have one more regular-season match remaining before they head off to district play Nov. 5 in Dayton. The Irish travel to first-place Liberty Christian Thursday and Waitsburg-Prescott visits Walla Walla Valley Academy.

"This was probably our best hitting and blocking game of the year," Buehler said. "We really wanted to get back after them after they beat us early on."

Megan Withers and Ronnie Hulce led the way at the net with seven kills each. Withers added seven digs and was 14-for-14 serving with three aces while Hulce added four blocks.

Genesis Pearson had five kills and four blocks, and Allie Wooderchak also finished with five kills. Kyla Harris led W-P with 10 digs and Amanda Weis contributed a game-high 26 assists. Harris was 11-for-14 from the service line and pounded three aces.

Buehler also praised Ellie Bartlow, who came off the bench to contribute three kills and 9-for-10 serving.

For DeSales, Caitlin Duncan had a game-high 11 kills to go with seven blocks and Abby Larreau finished with four kills and seven blocks. Annie Higgins added a pair of kills.

Amanda Warnick led with seven assists, followed closely by Chantel Blanc with six. Jamie Majerus was 13-for-13 from the service line.

"We just didn’t come to play good volleyball," DeSales coach Lori Blanc said. "And we had too many unforced errors. When you can’t work through that, you can’t win game."
