PASCO — Kati Lucas scored a hat trick here Wednesday afternoon, enabling Walla Walla to remain unbeaten in the women’s NWAACC Eastern Division soccer standings.
Lucas scored goals at 32 minutes, 37 minutes and 44 minutes in lifting the Warriors to a 3-0 victory over homestanding Columbia Basin. Margo Hickman assisted Lucas on the second of her three goals.
The victory boosted WWCC’s division record to 12-0-0. The Warriors are 15-1-0 going into a Saturday home match against Spokane that begins at noon.
The loss dropped second-place Columbia Basin to 9-2-1 in the division and 11-2-1 overall. Spokane, which is coming off a 6-1 victory over Yakima on Wednesday, is in fourth place, 7-2-3 in the division and 7-3-4 overall.
Jordan Simkins was credited with the shutout in goal for the Warriors on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, WWCC’s men’s team suffered a 2-1 defeat here Wednesday at the hands of the Hawks.
Junior Ayala of CBC scored the game’s first goal off an assist from Gavin Richter at 34 minutes. Juan Garcia’s goal 25 minutes later, assisted by Mikey Ramos, knotted the score at 1-1.
Columbia Basin then got the winning goal in the 89th minute as Richter took an pass from Freddy Barragan and put the ball in the net.
The Warriors, who entertain Spokane Saturday at 2 p.m., slipped to 7-3-0 on the Eastern Division and 10-3-0 overall. Columbia Basin is now 5-2-4 in league and 7-3-5 overall.
