BAKER CITY — Coach Elizabeth Ellis said Mac-Hi had one of its "best nights of play all season" in a close, three-game Greater Oregon League loss to Baker here Thursday.
The Bulldogs won 25-17, 25-17 and 25-19 to end the Pioneers’ season.
Sierra Burchell led Mac-Hi with six kills, 56 assists and six blocks. Karllee Clark had five kills and 55 assists. Stefanie Baker had two kills and 51 assists.
"To be honest, tonight was one of our best nights of play all season," Ellis said. "Baker is a really tough team with some serious hitters, but our girls worked their tails off defensively.
"We were digging, we were returning serves, we were scoring our own hits," she said. "Even though we lost, tonight was a big team success.
"Tonight’s game was the fruit of our labor of the season," Ellis continued. "I’m quite proud of the girls and all their effort they put forward during the season.
"I know there were days where it was not fun and it was not ideal, but they stuck with it," she added. "I really feel that our volleyball program will begin to build from here, becoming a stronger and tougher team in the GOL."
