Curbside leaf collection to begin on Monday
WALLA WALLA — The first round of curbside leaf pick up starts Monday.
People with Thursday sanitation pick-up routes should place loose leaves in the street along the curb.
Vehicles must be parked at least 10 feet from leaf piles. Storm water grates and driving lanes must be kept clear.
City crews will not pick up brush and other yard debris, only loose leafs.

Democrats present award to Barkan
A local political activist has been honored for her work by the Washington state Democratic Party.
Lenore Barkan was presented with the Warren Magnuson award for "female volunteer of the year" at the party’s annual awards banquet this week in Seattle, said Bill McCaw, 16th Legislative District Democratic Party state committeeman.
Barkan was praised for serving in the dual roles of vice chairwoman for the Walla Walla County Democrats and as treasurer for the 16th District Democratic Party, McCaw said.
The citation with the award read, "wearing two hats, she juggles a multitude of tasks while doing them all well," McCaw said.
