MILTON-FREEWATER -- A vacant home was damaged in a fire on Monday, and the cause remains under investigation.
City fire chief Shane Garner said crews received several reports of a house on fire at 132 Dehaven St. about 8:30 p.m.
Firefighters managed to control and put out the fire in just over an hour, by about 9:45 p.m. The home, which is a rental but was not currently occupied, suffered about $65,000 in losses, Garner said.
Garner said the owner of the home had been contacted. The cause of the fire, while under investigation, was not considered suspicious, Garner said.
