Miura-Martin

Andrea Mika Miura of Bellevue, Wash., and former area resident Aaron Kyle Martin of Ellensburg, Wash., were married Aug. 14, 2009, at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. The Rev. Patrick Ritter officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Randal and Laurie Miura of Bellevue. She is a 2003 graduate of Seattle Preparatory School and a 2007 graduate of Central Washington University, Ellensburg. She is currently completing her teacher’s certificate through CWU.
The groom is the son of Perry and Terri Camp of Walla Walla and Abner and Linda Martin of College Place. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 2003 and from CWU in 2007. He is a reserve firefighter/EMT for Kittitas County and is attending Washington State Fire Academy in North Bend, Wash.
Nadia Stesco was honor attendant for the bride. Amy Martin, Catherine Sazon, Melissa Grubb, Diane Nguyen and Gina del Rosario were bridesmaids.
Brian Alfi was best man for the groom. Rob and Joe Miura, Brian Hansen, Jimmy Akiyama, Jason Kim and Craig Bailey were groomsmen.
Laura Hoffman and Rob Miura were readers.
A reception at the Bellevue Hyatt followed the ceremony. A Japanese symbol for luck, 1,001 origami cranes folded by the bride’s family, decorated the reception. Aaron’s proposal to Andrea at Disneyland inspired the couple to choose music from "Beauty and the Beast" for their first dance.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Reno, Nev., and plan a second honeymoon to Disney World later this year. They live in Ellensburg.

Charles and Ruth Waits

Charles and Ruth Waits of 1572 Sturm Ave. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows during a reception on Aug. 21, 2009, on the beach at Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui, Hawaii. Family and friends joined them for the celebration.
Charles Waits was serving in the U.S. Navy, when the couple met at a Navy party in San Diego. They were married Aug. 21, 1959, in Seattle. Ruth’s maiden name is Curtis.
Following his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Waits began working for Boeing Co. in Seattle in 1958. The couple moved to Walla Walla in 1972 and he was employed by Harold Electric until 1986. At that time, he became a refrigeration technology instructor at Walla Walla Community College. He retired in 2003. He enjoys gardening and hunting.
A homemaker, Ruth Waits enjoys bike riding, shopping, mothering her two small poodles and her children.
The couple enjoy traveling.
They have a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Michael Jinkins of Seattle; and a son, David Waits of Walla Walla.

Linn and Marylois Buley

Linn and Marylois Buley of 705 Country Club Road celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 30, 2009, at a gathering with family and friends at the Walla Walla Country Club.
The couple met in Eugene, Ore., when 12 year old Marylois had a crush on her family’s paper boy, Linn. They were married Sept. 4, 1949, in the Baptist Church in Eugene. Marylois’ maiden name is Corbin.
The couple established Linn Buley Associates in 1952. Mr. Buley was a farm and ranch real estate appraiser and property developer. Semi-retired, he is still involved in farm management.
Marylois Buley worked at various office jobs in the early years of their marriage. A homemaker, she cared for their children and did volunteer work. After their children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper at Linn Buley Associates.
They have been avid golfers and members of the Walla Walla Country Club since 1968.
Mr. and Mrs. Buley have three sons, Steve and Gordon Buley, both of Walla Walla, and Ken Buley of Prescott; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Parker-Harding

Jake Harding and Stephanie Parker, both of Walla Walla, announce their engagement.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Steve and Danielle Reed of Walla Walla. She graduated from Walla Walla High School in 2000 and from Walla Walla Community College in 2006. She is employed by Kennewick General Hospital.
The groom-elect is the son of Pat and Nancy Harding of Walla Walla. He graduated from WWCC in 2005 and is employed by R J Backhoe in Walla Walla.
A Sept. 12, 2009, wedding in Walla Walla is planned.

Jones-Bartlow

Jessica Jones and Bill Bartlow, both of Seattle, were married Aug. 1, 2009, at the home of the groom’s parents, Richard and Denise Bartlow of 1837 Pike Place. Judge Richard Wernette officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Ruthanne Jones of Colville, Wash. She graduated from Colville High School in 2002 and from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, in 2006.
The groom graduated from Walla Walla High School in 2002 and from EWU in 2006. He is employed by Spectrum Networks in Seattle.
Katie Bartlow was honor attendant for the bride and Craig Wende was best man for the groom.
The newlyweds live in Seattle.

Busch-Drake

Stephanie Ann Busch and John Louis Bauer Drake, both of Bellingham, Wash., were married July 18, 2009, at Evergreen Gardens near Bellingham, Wash. The Rev. Steve Kuder officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Marguerite Busch of Spokane. She graduated from Mead High School and in 1999 from Gonzaga University, Spokane.
The groom is the son of Harbert Drake and Susan Bauer, both of Walla Walla. He graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1999.
Both the bride and groom are employed by Dos Padres Restaurant. Stephanie also works for Westford Funeral Home.
A 2010 honeymoon to the World Cup of Soccer in South Africa is planned.
The newlyweds live in Bellingham.

Keppel-de Grasse

Former area resident Peter Gilliam de Grasse and Allison Michelle Keppel, both of Darmstadt, Germany, were married July 31, 2009, during a garden ceremony at the home of the groom’s uncle and aunt, Jon and Mary Campbell of Walla Walla.
The groom’s brother, Charles de Grasse, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Sande Keppel of Milford, Conn. She is a 1993 graduate of Hazen High School, Renton, Wash., and a 1997 graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle.
A professional dancer, she is currently performing for projects based in both the United States and Europe. She most recently performed in Istanbul, Turkey.
The groom is the son of Michael and Gretchen de Grasse of Walla Walla.
A professional dancer, he left Walla Walla in 1995 to study dance in New York. He graduated from The Juilliard School in 2000. He is currently a soloist for Staatstheater Darmstadt in Darmstadt.
The couple met in Seattle in 2005 while they were engaged by Spectrum Dance Theater.
Beth Gongaware and Ryan Bossee were signatories of the marriage.
The bride’s grandmother, Pauline Lindgren, and the groom’s grandmother, Mary Koch, were honored guests. A reception followed the ceremony. The newlyweds honeymooned in Newport, Ore. They live in Germany.

Pease-Ruzicka III

Chuck and Christy Pease of 916 Evans St., Milton-Freewater, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly Kay Pease of Milton-Freewater, to Vincent Louis Ruzicka III of Walla Walla. Ruzicka is the son of Vincent "Zeek" Ruzicka Jr. of 801 Harvest Drive, College Place, and Julie Ruzicka of 212 E. Chestnut St.
The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of McLoughlin High School, Milton-Freewater, and a 2008 graduate of Eastern Oregon University, La Grande.
The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Walla Walla High School and a 2007 graduate of Eastern Washington University, Cheney. He is employed by Walla Walla Community College.
An Oct. 17, 2009, wedding at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Milton-Freewater is planned.
