Pataha Flour Mill’s Labor Day weekend retreat begins today
POMEROY — Pataha Flour Mill will have its first Labor Day weekend retreat today and Monday, beginning with lunch at 1:30 p.m. and ending with an evening concert with Shirley Finn, Maxine Larson, and other area musicians. "Abounding in the Lord" is the theme of the retreat. There is ample space for motor homes, trailers, tents and there are beds in the Mill’s Harvest House facility. Unity Churh of Peace hosts Reiki healing circle Sept. 13

Church of God in M-F to host centennial celebration
MILTON-FREEWATER — First Community Church, Church of God will host a centennial celebration Sept. 19-20. An open house will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, then a barbecue on the lawn. At 2 p.m. there will be a gospel music service.
Lloyd Moritz, executive director of the Pacific Northwest Association of The Church of God will speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, and the new steeple will be dedicated at 10:30 a.m., with the first ringing of the bell, followed by an all-new contemporary music service.

Dayton Christian Women’s connection to host tea party
DAYTON — Christian Women’s Connection and Stonecroft Ministries will host a "celebration tea party" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Seneca Building. The cost is $9.
The Sisters Patisserie, Jamie Butler and Lisa Hyndman of Mattawa, Wash., will cater They are the daughters of Maxine Garr.
Besides desserts and beverages, Jamie and Lisa will share about their new business.
Jo Franz of Battle Ground, Wash., will speak. Franz is a former nightclub singer, recording artist and author who has multiple sclerosis. She recently released a memoir, "Soar Unafraid." .
