Group seeks veteran-related participants

Interested people are being sought to establish a Milton-Freewater-based Disabled American Veterans chapter.

The DAV was founded in 1920 by disabled veterans returning from World War I to represent their unique interests. The group now has chapters all over the United States and over one million members. It keeps members informed of government decisions impacting their lives.

As well, a group of Milton-Freewater "Blue Star Mothers" are hopeful of starting a local chapter of that organization.

A Blue Star Mother is a mom or stepmother who has a son or daughter serving in, or has been honorably discharged from, the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserve Units, or the Merchant Marines.
