WAITSBURG -- The use of sidewalks to display merchandise is being scrutinized by the City Council nuisance committee and Mayor Markeeta Little Wolf. A proposed ordinance would address requirements for businesses wanting to place merchandise on the sidewalk.
While displaying merchandise on the sidewalk draws customers, the practice can obstruct pedestrians and sight lines of oncoming traffic, Little Wolf noted in a press release.
The ordinance has been sent to to all businesses in Waitsburg, and copies are available at City Hall for review. A public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be held Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Lion's Club Building at the Fairgrounds.
