Dorothy Jane Oswald, 89, of 167 Commercial St. died Sept. 8, 2009, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362. The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave. The Rev. Joel Ley of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Humane Society or Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.

Mrs. Oswald was born June 16, 1920, in Walla Walla to Mark L. and Madeline Stevens. She attended area schools. She married Henry G. Oswald in 1940 in Coeur d'Alene. She was a caretaker for her husband for many years, he died in 1986.

A homemaker, she enjoyed animals, gardening and crocheting. A caring and generous person, she enjoyed time with family and friends. She was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Oswald is survived by two sons, James Oswald of Walla Walla and Jack Oswald of Kent, Wash.; two sisters, Evelyn Pulse of Pendleton and Helen Mullen of Portland; three grandsons, Guy Oswald of Hayden, Idaho, Jim Oswald of Sacramento, Calif. and Bill Oswald of Coeur d'Alene; and two great-grandchildren
