Colfax dominates Pomeroy in Friday’s prep football opener

COLFAX — Pomeroy couldn’t match Colfax’s aggressive play here Friday night as the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Pirates 38-6 in a season-opening non-league prep football game.

Tyler McNanny led the Bulldogs as he scored 30 of his team’s points in a variety of ways.

McNanny, a senior, had touchdown runs of 21, 11 and 1 yards in the game. He also booted three extra points and a 44-yard field goal. And he burst through the Pirates’ offensive line, blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for yet another touchdown.

Pomeroy’s lone score came on Ethan McGee’s 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.

"This game was all about field position," Pomeroy coach Scott McGee said. "It seemed like Colfax spent the whole night inside our 20-yard line. Five of their touchdowns were the result of our miscues.

The Pirates entertain Liberty of Spangle Thursday night in another non-league game.
