ATHENA -- Presley Pahl posted 19 kills and nine blocks as Oregon Class 2A powerhouse Weston-McEwen got the best of defending 1A state champion Imbler, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 in non-conference volleyball action here Friday night.
Other contributors to the TigerScots' triumph were Morgan Entze with 20 assists and five blocks; Jordan Reger with 15 assists and three aces; Tiffany Cain with six blocks; Renee Baumann with seven kills; Jessica Stevens with five kills; Leanne Harnden with 19 digs; and Mary Herbes with 17 digs.
"It was a great match for us," W-M coach Shawn White said. "It went almost two hours. They are the defending state champions at the 1A level. They are really tough.
"We wore them down a little bit in the match," White said. "In game four (with the TigerScots trailing 19-18), Jordan served it out."
Weston-McEwen, which competed in Wa-Hi's annual Northwest Invitational tournament on Saturday, will take a 10-4-2 overall record into a non-league match at La Grande on Tuesday.
