Activities and weekly lunch menus at area senior centers

WALLA WALLA - Activities offered daily at The Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave., include pool and cards from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A complete listing of center activities, classes and health and welfare programs may be found in the monthly newsletter. The annual center membership fee, $12 per person, includes a subscription to it. Spanish is spoken at the Center. Adult day care is provided at the Adult Day Center 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. For information, call Mike Johnson at 509-527-0771.

Senior Round Table luncheons are served weekdays at noon at The Center. For information, call 509-527-3775. Bread and milk are served with all meals and a salad bar is available Monday-Friday. The menu is:

Monday: Baked ham with pineapple, green salad, sweet potatoes, biscuit, cookie.

Tuesday: Hamburgers, lettuce and tomato, macaroni salad, fruit juice, bun, pears.

Wednesday: Creamed chicken over biscuits, green beans, tomato slices, biscuit, peaches and cookie.

Thursday: Beef tips on rice, Oregon bean medley, carrots, muffin, pineapple.

Friday: Baked fish sandwich, peas, spinach salad, fruit juice, bread, fruity clafouti.

WAITSBURG - Lunch is served at Waitsburg Presbyterian Church, 504 Main St. on Tuesdays. Home-delivered meals are also available. Questions: call 509-527-3775

MILTON-FREEWATER and WESTON - Milton-Freewater and Weston seniors can enjoy hot lunches and socialize at the senior centers in Milton-Freewater and Weston. Activities are offered 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays at the Milton-Freewater Senior Citizens Center, 311 N. Main St. Hot lunches are served at noon on Tuesdays and Fridays. Bingo is 1 p.m. every Tuesday and pinochle is 7 p.m. every Friday. The Weston Senior Citizens Center on Main Street is open for social time and a hot lunch is served at noon on Wednesdays.

The suggested donation is $3.50 for meals for those 60 and older or children under 8; and $6 for those 59 and younger. Bread and milk are served with all meals. The menu for Milton-Freewater is:

Tuesday: Roast pork with gravy, mashed potatoes, layered pea salad, melons, hot roll, cherry cobbler.

Friday: Baked potato bar with chili and toppings, tossed salad, pickled beets, bread, spice cake.

The menu for Weston is:

Wednesday: Meatballs in onion gravy, egg noodles, stewed tomatoes, tossed salad, bread, berry cobbler.

Seniors of the Blue Mountains and Walla Walla Valley offer a meal at noon Thursdays in the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth Ave.

Hot rolls and milk are served with every meal. The suggested donation is $3. The menu this week is:

Thursday: Barbecued ribs, potatoes and gravy, creamed corn, fresh vegetables, dessert, hot rolls.
