WALLA WALLA -- The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for Walla Walla Public Schools' new support services facility.
The ceremony begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the site of the new facility, 1162 Entley St., near Koncrete Industries.
The project marks the second phase of developing a new Transportation Cooperative and Support Services building at the Entley Street site. Construction on the transportation co-op, which is being paid almost completely with state funds, is slated to wrap up early this summer.
Construction of the support services building is expected to be finished by December. The completed facility will house the district's warehouse, maintenance, grounds services, print shop and food services. The transportation cooperative will house the district's buses, as well as buses of participating districts. The shop will also provide parts and maintenance services.
The completed facility will replace the district's aged transportation and support services building at 325 S. Park St.
