ST. JOHN - Pomeroy golfed to first in a three-way match at the St. John Golf and Country Club Tuesday.

The Pirates' Trevor Koberstein was medalist, shooting 78 on the par-70 course. Austin Starin shot 81, Joel Meyers and Ryan Koberstein shot 82 and Tanner Feider shot 105, for a team score of 428 for Pomeroy.

Tri-Cities Prep was second with 470 and St. John-Endicott was third with 517.

"For the weather conditions - we had wind, rain and hail, and at one point the course was totally covered with hail - I thought the scores were pretty solid," said coach Jim Green. "They were really miserable conditions. The boys would go to put the ball down and it rolled into a snowball."

With snow and hail substituting for rough and sand, it was a solid day, he said.

"I'm really pleased with the scores overall," Green said.

Pomeroy hosts Tri-Cities Prep, Liberty Christian, Dayton, St. John-Endicott, Asotin, Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia and DeSales at Crystal Springs Golf Course at 10 a.m. Saturday.
