Rusty TigerScots commit eight errors, fall to Heppner 14-4

HEPPNER - The Weston-McEwen TigerScots dropped a single baseball game to Heppner here Tuesday, 14-4, in five innings.

"We haven't played for a week and we're definitely rusty, but that's no excuse," said Weston-McEwen coach T.J. Haguewood. "We've got to make the plays. We had too many errors."

The TigerScots had eight errors for the game.

"Our pitchers put the ball in play, but there were definitely too many errors," Haguewood said.

Weston-McEwen did have four runs in the fourth inning, he said.

"They competed in the last inning," he said. "They strung together some hits. I was proud of them. They were rusty starting off the game, but they ended on a positive note. The boys hit hard in the last inning and put some pressure on the defense.

"But it started a little too late."

This was the TigerScots' first league game. They're 0-1 in league and 1-6 overall, and play at Irrigon Saturday.
