YAKIMA - Wa-Hi placed fourth among 15 Class 4A schools at the Central Washington Invite here Wednesday.
Good weather and calm winds prevailed at the Apple Tree Course, said Wa-Hi head coach Jim Smith.
Blue Devil Jake Hanson placed fourth, shooting a 74 on the par-72 course, and teammate Drew Reinland was close behind with 76.
"Jake played a real solid round," Smith said. "He had a good day."
Southridge won the invite at 297, followed by Richland at 307, Kamiakin at 313 and Wa-Hi's 317
"I was pretty pleased," Smith said. "We were close to Kamiakin's score and within 10 of Richland, so that was good for us."
Freshmen Dean Atkinson and Travis Morrison also played well, Smith said. Atkinson shot 82 and Morrison 85.
"I was really pleased with them," Smith said. "Especially for their first time on that course. It can get you if you're not real careful, and for both to shoot in the 80s, I'm very pleased."
Gunnar Leighty hit a non-counting 100 for the Blue Devils.
Big Nine foe Hanford won the 3A division with 299 and West Valley was second in Class 3A at 308.
The Blue Devils hit the Apple Tree course again next Wednesday in the West Valley Pod Match.
