IRRIGON - Weston-McEwen dropped a pair of seven-inning softball sets to defending Oregon 2A state champ and Blue Mountain League rival Irrigon here Saturday. The Knights triumphed 4-0 and 9-2.

Game one was a pitchers duel between W-M's Haley Freske and Irrigon's Noelle Wright. Both pitchers struck out eight, and neither allowed an earned run.

"Haley pitched a great first game," W-M coach Jeff Griggs said. "I don't know if she wasn't ready (in the second game), thinking she wouldn't pitch or just what. When Morgan (Entze) went out, we fizzled. After the shuffling of the players, we just looked like we didn't know what we were doing.
