KENNEWICK - A trio of Wa-Hi girls' tennis players placed fifth at the Tri-City Invitational tennis championships that ended Saturday at Kennewick High School.
Presley Peck, Tianna Cummings and Allison Henkel each won a pair of matches during the two-day event.
"The Tri-City Invite is always a great opportunity to see different competition and play a lot of matches in a short time," Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. "The format was a bit different this year, but it still makes for a long day of tennis."
"Our doubles teams of Rosa Tobin and Allison Mehn and Rachel Schueller and Hannah Warinner had a difficult day against some tough competition," Peck said. "But, they battled hard and represented the team very well.
"I was really happy with the way all the girls battled through a long day of tennis," Peck said. "We were depleted a bit by conflicting engagements, so we brought up three players from the (junior varsity) team to help us out and fill some spots. Hannah Warinner, Rachel Schueller, and Allison Henckel performed well against some tough competition and gained some valuable experience."
