Madeline Louise Dobbins was born to Beulah (nee Barton) and Allen G. Whittington on April 18, 1915, in Red Lodge, Mont.

She was the eldest of four children.The family moved to Walla Walla inabout 1928.Madeline married William H. Reever in Walla Walla.Theyhad two sons, Robert and Gerald. Mr. Reever died in a work-related accident in Hood River, Ore. in 1944.Madeline later married Gerald Russell Dobbins in Walla Walla.They had one son, Michael. They later divorced.

Madeline worked as a checker for 9th Street Market in the 1950's, and then for Marshall's (later Safeway at the Plaza) for many years before retiring.She shared her life for over 30 years with Harold W. Johnson.Harold died in 1995.Madeline loved to cook.She read cook books like other people read novels.She enjoyed making homemade fudge and gave it away in generous amounts.

Madeline is survived by sons, Robert Reever of St. George, Utah, and his wife Gayle, Gerald Reever of Ontario, Ore., and his wife Cheryl, and Mike Dobbins of Walla Walla, and his wife Karen; a sister Shirley Claire Taylor of Prescott;seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.She was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Lenore Brennan, and brother Jack Allen Whittington.

The 95th anniversary of Madeline's birth will be celebrated on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the home of her son, Mike Dobbins. Friends and family are invited to come and share a picnic of Madeline's favorite recipes beginning at noon.Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through Munsell-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton Freewater, OR.
