ATHENA - Weston-McEwen lost a baseball pitchers' duel, 2-0, to Pilot Rock here Tuesday.
"It was a classic pitchers' duel," said Weston-McEwen head coach T.J. Haguewood.
The one-hour, 12-minute game had good defense, he said.
Travis Copeland, pitching for Pilot Rock, allowed two hits. Weston-McEwen's Casey Riddle allowed four.
The only scoring happened in the fourth inning, when the Rockets scored twice on a triple by Shane Lazinka and singles by Lane Byrnes and Dylan Cutler.
"Casey (Riddle) threw a heck of a game," Haguewood said. "Copeland's a tough pitcher. I'm proud of the way the boys competed."
The TigerScots threatened in the bottom of the fifth with two runners and no outs, but a failed bunt and doubling up a runner closed them out.
The TigerScots drop to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in league. They play at Stanfield Tuesday.
