MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. - Jacob Heikkenen and Nick Wales both turned in second-place performances and Brigete Lyons took second twice for DeSales at the fifth-annual Undeberg Invite here Saturday.
Lyons took second in the 100 hurdles in 18.93 and 300 hurdles in 56.4.
Heikkenen was runner-up in shot put at 40 feet, 2 inches, and Wales did the same in the 300 hurdles in 42.79.
"We feel like it's all coming together for our kids," Irish assistant coach Mike Scheel said. "They're getting better each meet. They're training hard, are enthusiastic and fun to coach. We had a really great meet today."
DeSales sent 19 athletes to the Undeberg Invite, which had 296 athletes from 21 class 1B-2A teams.
Anthony Brown took third in the discus at 115-8, and Pat Sharkey fourth in the 400 in 54.15.
The DeSales girls 800 and 1600 relay teams placed third. Lyons, Megan Moberg, Jessica Arnzen and Amanda Arceo teamed up for a 2:01 in the 800, and Arnzen, Lyons, Moberg and Cheyenne Schoen were third in the 1600 with a five-second team best in 4:44.
Arnzen took fourth in the 400 in 65.34 and Roxanna Acock was fourth in the javelin at 96-8.
Moberg took fifth in the pole vault at 7-6.
The girls 400 relay of Schoen, Moberg, Arceo and Cleo Betts was seventh in 59.4.
Tyler Wahl was eighth in the shot put at 38-3, Joe Zimmerman placed eighth in the mile in 5:13, and the 1600 relay of Sharkey, Zimmerman, Wales and Peter BanderGriend was eighth in 3:54.
DeSales takes to the track again Wednesday at Walla Walla Valley Academy's Invite at Mac-Hi's Shockman Field.
