Mac-Hi softball defeats Umatilla, 23-2

UMATILLA - Mac-Hi's softball team posted a victory over Umatilla in a nonleague single game here Monday.

The Pioneers won, 23-2, in five innings over the Vikings.

The win moves them to 9-5 overall and 1-3 in league.

"Overall, the girls were really patient at the plate and exploded on pitches that were good," Mac-Hi coach Nicole Christian said.

Shawney Garcia nailed three singles for four RBIs, Andrea Roeder and Lauren Sams each posted three RBIs, and Kalyn Odman and Brittney Hall each contributed an RBI to the effort.

"When we had runners on, the girls advanced them by hits or walks," Christian said.

Mac-Hi hosts Baker in a Greater Oregon League game at 2 p.m. Friday.
