WALLA WALLA -- A man pleaded innocent Monday to holding his wife at knifepoint and threatening to kill her earlier this month.

Carl E. Adams Jr., 43, of 1463 Francis Ave., is scheduled for trial May 24 in Walla Walla County Superior Court on charges of first-degree assault, felony harassment and unlawful imprisonment -- domestic violence.

Karen Adams reportedly told police she and Carl Adams were in a motor home parked in the driveway at their residence the evening of April 6 when he threatened her life. He allegedly continued threatening her while rubbing a knife on her body for several hours.

She said Adams wouldn't let her use the bathroom, eat or leave, according to a police report filed in court. Eventually he made her sign over the title of her pickup and he left, officials said.

Authorities were notified and Carl Adams was arrested the following morning when he returned to the residence.

Bail was set at $50,000.
