Tax day nears for Walla Walla County property owners

The county treasurer hopes to have a new multipayment option ready by June.

Walla Walla County Treasurer Gordon Heimbigner is asking landowners to remember that property taxes are due April 30. Tax payments must be made at the Treasurer's Office in the Walla Walla County Courthouse, 315 W. Main St., or postmarked by April 30 to avoid being late.

Tax payments can also be deposited in the drop box behind the courthouse, at Baker Boyer Bank's downtown office at 7 W. Main St. or at its College Place branch office, 630 S. College Ave.

Heimbigner said his office hopes to have a new multipayment option plan ready for implementation by June. The option would allow property owners to authorize the Treasurer's Office to automatically withdraw a monthly payment from their bank accounts to avoid having to make an annual or biannual payment.

People who would like to be put on a sign-up list for the program should call the Treasurer's Office at 527-2750.
