HERMISTON - Wa-Hi competed here Saturday in the 25th Hermiston Kiwanis Invitational track and field meet.
The Blue Devil boys finished fourth and the girls came home sixth with 18 teams competing in both boys and girls events.
The Blue Devil boys were led by Garrett Gerling and Brandon Porter.
Gerling won the 110 meter hurdles in 14.54 seconds. Porter threw the javelin 181-feet, 6-inches to place first.
Gerling also took home a second place in the 200 meters. Gerling ran a 22.28, but was beaten by Pasco's Marques Avery, who swept the sprints. Avery won the 100 in 11.01 as Wa-Hi's Jonah Hoe finished fourth in 11.43, and Avery completed his double win with a 22.05 victory in the 200.
Austin Schilling ran fourth in the 200 for the Blue Devils and finished in 23.3.
John-Paul Wolpert and Aaron Nelson went three, four in the 1500 for the Blue Devils. Wolpert ran a 4:19.92 and Nelson came home close behind in 4:20.36.
Tim McEuen cleared 6-0 in the high jump to earn fourth place points for the Blue Devils.
Kamiakin took home the boys team title with 117.5 points. Wa-Hi finished with 70.5.
On the girls side, Hermiston ran away with the team title. The Bulldogs scored 122.5 to easily out-distance second place West Valley of Yakima, as the Rams came home second with 79 points. The Blue Devils finished with 49.
Jamie Weisner scored a second, a third, a fourth, and ran a leg on the fourth-place 4x100 Wa-Hi relay team to lead the Blue Devil girls.
Weisner ran second to West Valley's Haley Curtis in the 300 hurdles. Curtis won in 45.64 and Weisner crossed next in 47.50.
Weisner jumped 16-06.25 to take third in the long jump. The Wa-Hi sophomore led a four, five Blue Devil finish in the 100 hurdles. Weisner came home fourth in 15.89, and Gabby Anderson was next in 16.12.
Rachel Adkins triple jumped 33-02.25 to earn the Blue Devils third-place points.
Janice Barlow cleared 9-06 in the pole vault to take home the third-place ribbon.
Wa-Hi's 4x400 relay team ran a 4:19.01. The team of Kailee Davisson, Weisner, Sarai Seekamp and Maggie Callan ran to a fourth-place finish.
The 4x100 relay team of Seekamp, Davisson, Adkins,and Brittany Gibbar ran to fifth in 52.50.
The Blue Devils host a Columbia Basin Big Nine meet at Martin Field Thursday at 3 p.m.
