PRESCOTT - Waitsburg-Prescott brought out the big bats against the visiting Bulldogs here Saturday in a softball doubleheader, scoring 23 runs in nine innings in a Southeast 2B sweep of Dayton.
W-P downed the Bulldogs 13-6 and 10-5.
Waitsburg-Prescott posted crooked numbers in each of the nine innings in which it scored. W-P plated five runs in the third inning of game one, followed by two in the fourth, two in the fifth and a four-spot in the sixth.
Dayton countered with six runs on five hits.
W-P didn't wait three innings to score its first runs in game two. The home team opened with two runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third and two more two-spots in the fourth and fifth.
Dayton stayed in game two early, scoring twice in the first, once in the second and once in the third, to make the score 7-4 after three. But the Bulldogs scored just one more time in their next four ups to finish on the short side of the 10-5 loss.
Samantha Harding led the Dayton attack with four hits on the day.
Ashley Wilson and Rachelle Oseth each tallied five hit afternoons for W-P.
"We really had a good day at the plate," W-P coach Angie Potts said. "It was a slow start in game one, which we have a tendency to do. We definitely went in to the second game with more confidence, and we didn't let down. We tend to play better when we're having fun and not so tense."
The wins bump W-P's record to 6-8 overall, 6-2 in league.
W-P plays again Tuesday at home against Touchet.
Dayton next hosts Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia on Saturday.
