PRESCOTT - Waitsburg-Prescott pummeled Dayton's baseball squad, taking 12-0 and 16-6 victories here Saturday.
W-P pitcher Joe Purdin threw a one-hitter in game one.
"Joe threw real well," W-P coach Dennis Snedigar said. "He has been our workhorse for us this year on the mound. He did a nice job today."
Dayton had just four hits and six runs for the day.
The Bulldogs got up on W-P 6-1 in the top of the second inning in game two, but W-P answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. W-P took off to ten-run them in six innings.
W-P had sixteen runs in game two.
"We were down in the second game and we were able to rebound," Snedigar said. "The wind was blowing good and we kept the ball out of the air with line drives off the bat. We have been playing a lot better in the second half. Kids have been hitting the ball up the middle and the other way, which is good to see."
After the first 10 games, the team was hitting .177, Snedigar said. They have been hitting over .300 in the last four games.
W-P's record is now 5-9 overall and 3-5 in league.
W-P hosts Touchet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Prescott.
