Weston-McEwen drops two games in Saturday baseball play

ATHENA - Weston-McEwen dropped a diamond dyad here Saturday to Blue Mountain League rival Heppner. Both games went the distance before the TigerScots succumbed 6-2 and 8-5.

W-M rallied to a 5-4, lead thanks to a three-run fifth. Consecutive Heppner two-spots in the sixth and seventh pushed the Mustangs back to the lead and sealed the victory.

Eliot Salter hit the only homer of the day. His bomb came in the nightcap.

"Heppner is one of the tops teams in our league," W-M coach T.J. Haguewood said. "You have to play pretty clean baseball to beat them, but we came up a little short.
