WALLA WALLA - Whitman College junior Elise Otto and first-year teammate Alyssa Roberg have earned spots on the All-Northwest Conference first team for women's tennis.
Coaches voted for all-conference honors as they met for last weekend's NWC post-season tournament. Eight players made the first team while four others netted second-team honors.
John Hein, Whitman's second-year coach, was voted NWC Coach of the Year by his colleagues. His team placed third during the NWC regular season, knocked off Linfield to take second at the postseason tourney, and finished its season with a 16-9 record overall.
Otto was named to the All-NWC first team for a third straight season.
Roberg was the only first-year player to make the All-NWC First Team.
Otto rolled through her spring season with a 16-5 record in singles, which included an 11-3 mark in the No. 2 slot. She also won five of the seven matches she played at No. 1 singles.
Otto is No. 25 in the latest singles rankings.
Roberg slipped into the No. 1 singles spot early in her first Whitman season and compiled a 10-7 record (8-5 NWC) while playing the top players on opposing teams.
