Perhaps you've noticed Rising Sun Clubhouse. The older home has an inviting front deck at the southeast corner of Third Avenue and Chestnut Street.

It's a place of support and social rehabilitation that empowers members with mental illness to reach their full potential, while rediscovering their self-respect, dignity and abilities. It offers opportunities to perform productive work and create meaningful relationships while belonging to a community.

The clubhouse is actively seeking state certification to qualify for diversified funding. Members can enjoy lunch there on weekdays.

The clubhouse is in need of a variety of things. Its wish list includes a commercial oven/stove, craft model sets, round tables, a felt table mat for games, fresh produce, work clothing and volunteers to lead fun activities.

It also welcomes donations of gift certificates for food and movies, cosmetics, cleaning supplies, shampoo, toiletries and sunblock for its members.
