Charles Western Sr.


Feb. 8, 1928-April 24, 2010

A celebration of the life of Charles E. "Charlie" Western Sr. will be at the home of Jim Western, 1052 University St., Walla Walla, at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, with a color guard ceremony at Garden Mausoleum niche at Mt. View Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Charlie was born in Bristow, Okla. He served in the Navy from 1945-1948, having completed sonar schooling. He was married to Ruby from 1948-1994 when she passed away. He lived in Waitsburg from 1968 until he passed away in his home surrounded by his sons. He was well respected by many at the Washington State Penitentiary, where he retired from after 20 years of service. He was a motor route carrier for the Union-Bulletin newspaper for over 13 years until two weeks before diagnosis of cancer. He will miss and be missed by all the animals and customers on his route.

He is survived by Eddy and wife Angie, Marty, Jim and wife Karin, Tom, Bobby and wife Robin Western. He has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to Walla Walla Hospice.
