Feb. 22, 1977
Jason John Sartin Gentry, born in February, the twenty-second day, the year of 1977, to Dick and Rhonda Gentry, raised for nearly 30 years by Joseph and Rhonda Sartin, Jason was our oldest son.
He attended grade school in La Grande, Ore., and Reno, Nev., and moved to Milton-Freewater with the family in 1992. He never finished school but instead got small jobs here and there to get by. He left for back East and ended up in Alexander City, Ala., where he lived and worked for five years. He returned to the Milton-Freewater area to be close to family and help raise his two children. He was finally getting his life together.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Betty Gunnels and George and Marguerite Sartin.
Jason left behind his mom and dad; two brothers, Cody and Jody; his wife, Maia; daughter, Lyric; son, Anthony; and his blood father, Dick Gentry.
Jason went for a drive up in the mountains with a friend on Nov. 13, 2009, and didn't come home. He was found almost six months later.
The memorial funeral service will be held on May 1, 2010, at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Murphy of Faithline Baptist Church officiating.
