LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Turner will bring new ideas and thinking

As a school director in Burbank, I first met candidate-for-sheriff John Turner at a local meeting. I was immediately impressed with his credentials, experience and vision for the future of law enforcement for Walla Walla County.

His prior law enforcement experience, legal background and hometown values and core belief in God, duty and country will be a welcome change to Walla Walla County.

John is well equipped to lead the sheriffs' office as we better tackle the growing issues we see in Walla Walla County of gangs, drugs and increased violence. He has committed to bring back 24-hour patrols, even in the rural areas of the county and partner with schools, cities and business in gang prevention and outreach, a K9 program, a revitalized reserve officer program, Explorer Post and in other areas.

John currently holds a top-secret security clearance from his recent counter-terrorism days in Iraq that speaks volumes to his character and unblemished past.

At age 46, John is experienced enough to bring a wide set of skills and experience to the position of sheriff, and yet he is young and energetic enough to invigorate the department with some new ideas and thinking.

If you want something different for Walla Walla County law enforcement and a break from the old status quo, please vote for John Turner for Walla Walla County sheriff.
