WALLA WALLA -- Participants in this year's Midsummer Musical Retreat at Whitman College will give a free concert Saturday.
The retreat is said to be one of the largest of its kind in the nation, and features 300 intermediate to professional classical musical performers, most of whom are members of smaller ensembles or community bands in their hometowns.
All week the participants have been practicing under the instruction of professional musicians. Saturday's concert will include performances by a full orchestra, symphony, choral groups and small chamber music performances.
The concert is from 5-7 p.m. at Cordiner Hall and is free to the public. Local community members are encouraged to attend.
