Walla Walla Sweets wraps up season with loss to Corvallis

Walla Walla finishes its inaugural West Coast League season with an 18-30 record with the 2-0 loss.

CORVALLIS - The Walla Walla Sweets ended their inaugural West Coast League season with a 2-0 loss to the Corvallis Knights here Sunday evening.

The Sweets finished the season 18-30, 11 games behind WCL East Division-winner Wenatchee.

Corvallis won the WCL West with a final 31-17 regular-season record.

The Sweets outhit the Knights, 7-5, but Corvallis scored its duo of runs with two outs in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Wenatchee, which has won three of five WCL titles, open the playoffs against Kelowna, which was second in the WCL East at 22-26, on Tuesday in Kelowna.

In the West, Corvallis meets the Bend Elks (27-21) for the three-game series Tuesday in Bend.
