The Milton-Freewater Rotary Club selected Pam Widner as its 46th Paul Harris Fellow. The honor was presented to Pam at the club's Aug. 3 meeting.

Anyone who donates $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation is awarded a Paul Harris Fellow, which includes a pin and certificate and is named in honor of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary.

Those funds are held in the Foundation for three years and in that time the interest generated supports all of the administrative expenses and the entire amount is available for distribution to Rotary Foundation projects such as the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Ambassadorial Scholars, Group Study Exchange Teams, Polio Eradication and many more, said Robby Robbins, the club's reporter.

Donations may be in the person's name, awarded to someone for special recognition of exceptional service to Rotary or the community, or for any reason by any individual.

Also at the meeting, Chris Wallace introduced the 2010 Pioneer Posse Court's Queen Amanda Quintal and Princesses Mackenzie Widner and Taylor Skramstad. Court advisors are Chris and Debbie Scudder.

Crowned in February 2010, the year was a kaleidoscope of parades, appearances at meetings, picnics, rodeos, and other events, Robby said.

Their activities started with an event in Prescott and will end with participation at the Oregon State Fair in Salem. They recently completed an appearance at Chief Joseph (Ore.) Days where there were 22 outriders in the parade.

Other events include in Hermiston, Muddy Frogwater Festival, Walla Walla Frontier Days and the Pendleton Round-Up.

Then it will be time to begin the interviews and evaluations of the applicants for the 2011 Court.

At the Rotary meeting, Mackenzie wore the court's the ride-in attire for most of the events. Taylor wore the clothes they sport at picnics, lunches and other social events. Amanda wore the costume they use in parades. Their garments were made by several members of the Pioneer Posse organization.

All of the girls noted there are several theme events like Christmas in July where the horses are decorated in holiday finery. For more information, contact Debbie at 509-849-2478 or Chris at 541-938-3379 or online at
