Steve was born June 24, 1982, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Gabor and Susan (Lugo) Kuglics. In Feb. 2009, Steve boarded a plane to Walla Walla having never met his family here. This took such courage. Steve taught himself to speak English by watching American movies. He had such exuberance for life that drew you in and he made friends quickly because of his infectious personality.
Steve wanted to join the Army, so he started classes at Walla Walla Community College to get his G.E.D. to improve his English. Steve's teacher had found him to be hard working, courteous and were extremely fond of him. Steve was a tall lanky kid with a big heart and a huge appetite for life and food. He especially enjoyed his Uncle Randy's barbecue.
Steve was only here for a short time, but he made his mark on all of us. Our hearts are broken but we are grateful for the short time we had with him.
Steve is survived by his parents and siblings George and Stepanie Kuglics; grandparents here and abroad. He has a special bond with his grandmother Irene Lugo; Aunts and Uncles Rosie and Dave Gies, Sylvia and Randy Kinsman, Janie and Gilbert Lugo, and numerous cousins.
A special thanks to the medical staff at UW Medical Center for their tireless efforts to save our Steve.
A celebration of life will be held on August 21, 2010, at the Armory, 113 S. Colville St. between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be made to the UW Medical Center.
