Glenn and Honey Swensen


Glenn and Honey Swensen of Walla Walla celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends.

The couple met at a dance in Echo, Ore, and married July 22, 1949, in Yakima. Honey's maiden name is Hopkins.

Glenn worked for the state of Oregon for awhile and for the community of Ordnance, Ore.

The family moved to Walla Walla, where Glenn worked for the city of Walla Walla. He retired in 1992. He enjoys fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Honey was a head banquet staff member for several years, then opened the Royal Motor Inn in 1967. She was also a volunteer for 10 years at Green Park Elementary and Pioneer Middle schools. Her hobbies are fishing, flower gardening and crocheting.

The couple have three sons, Randy and Doug Swensen, both of Walla Walla and Bill Swensen, who died in a 1967 drowning accident; and grandson, Jarrod, of Bellingham, Wash.
