Training for parents highlights literacy for special-needs children


Oregon Parent Training and libraries of Eastern Oregon will present "ABCs & IEPs: Literacy & the Special Learner" on Monday, 10 a.m.-noon in Pendleton.

The free, two-hour workshop gives parents and families information and tools to help their special-needs child be successful in reading and literacy activities, for all levels of readers.

Participants will learn the vocabulary of reading, the basic structure for beginning reading, and activities and tips for improving your child's skill level across all their ability levels.

Instruction in how to address literacy in a student's individual education plan, questions you might ask your child's teacher and sample reading goals will be included.

Registration is required.
