WALLA WALLA -- Two teenagers have been charged in Superior Court with raping a 15-year-old girl in June while in a vehicle off Mill Creek Road.
Cager J. York, 18, of 2363 S. Wilbur Ave., and Daijohn A. Gonzalez, 17, of 316 S. 10th Ave., are each accused of second-degree rape and indecent liberties.
York faces the charges as an adult. The charges against Gonzalez were filed in the court's Juvenile Department.
The charges were filed Monday and arrest warrants were issued. The suspects were apprehended Wednesday morning. York was booked into the County Jail, while Gonzalez was lodged in the county's Juvenile Justice Center.
Officials said the girl -- who is acquainted with York and Gonzalez -- was walking to a friend's house near Pioneer Park late June 4 or early June 5 when she received text messages and a phone call from York. He and Gonzalez picked the girl up in a van and York eventually drove them to what apparently is Harbert Road off Mill Creek, according to a Sheriff's Office report filed in court. Once parked, York and Gonzalez allegedly raped the girl. They then traveled back to Walla Walla and the girl got out of the van near Isaacs and Wilbur avenues.
The indecent liberties charge against Gonzalez accuses him of fondling a different 15-year-old girl a few days later near the corner of Colville and Cherry streets in Walla Walla.
Bail for York is set at $50,000. Gonzalez is being detained without bail.
