WALLA WALLA - Allegro Cyclery is hosting cyclocross clinics each Wednesday in September.

Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing, typically in a park setting. Riders must negotiate varied terrains and surfaces, and cross a myriad of barriers, natural or man-made, that may force riders to dismount to pass.

Cyclocross racing season begins in October. Allegro has information on all the races.

All hour-long clinics start at 6:15 p.m. and are free. Participants must bring their own bikes and helmets. A ride on location will follow.

The clinics will be led by Allegro manager Justin Bannerman and mechanic Nathan Bannerman. Justin Bannerman is a Masters category 2 (advanced) cross racer, and Nathan Bannerman races in the Elite Men (expert) category. Both have battled top U.S. riders in numerous national level races.

At Wednesday's first clinic, equipment and training suggestions will be given at Allegro Cyclery.

The Sept. 8 clinic covers dismounts and remounts at Wildwood Park; Sept. 15 is on barriers at Wildwood Park; Sept. 22 focuses on run-ups at Pioneer Park, at the corner of Alder and Division; and Sept. 29 covers starts at Wildwood Park. Call Allegro Cyclery at 525-4949 for more information.
