WALLA WALLA - A high-speed police pursuit ended Tuesday with the officer being called off the chase and the suspect getting away on foot.
According to Walla Walla Police, the pursuit began at around 8:11 p.m. near the intersection of Cherry Street and Second Avenue when police attempted to pull over a driver who was speeding in a maroon Dodge Durango and who had failed to stop.
At one point the chase continued down Pine Street and down Second Avenue. The suspect then attempted to enter the westbound U.S. Highway 12 entrance off Second Avenue, but then turned around in the opposite direction. That is when the pursuit was called off.
The suspect's vehicle was later found abandoned near Eighth Avenue and Moore Street.
According to the report, a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was recovered from the vehicle.
No arrests have been made.
