Police searching Fort Walla Walla Park for possible armed suspect

WALLA WALLA - Police were searching Fort Walla Walla Park this morning for a reported armed man.

According to radio dispatches, the incident began shortly before 10 a.m. when a College Place Police officer reported the suspect ran away after his car had been stopped on Myra Road.

The officer radioed dispatch that as the suspect ran away he pulled something, possibly a gun, from his waistband. The suspect was described as an 18-19 year old Hispanic male. The suspect had been wearing a blue polo shirt which he stripped off as he ran, leaving him clad in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, according to dispatches.

As of 10:30 a.m. today, police officers from College Place, Walla Walla and the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office had surrounded the park. Emergency Services Unit officers were being called in to aid in the search for the suspect.
